2000+ sheets of paper and many, many pencils were harmed in the making of this film.
I've just completed another short film. No commissions, no grants; a personal project with production squeezed into hours stolen between other work and the rest of life's obligations. Probably why it took so long to finish. That and just the sheer amount of time it takes one guy to make all these drawings. You think I would know better by now.
Drawing on paper was not the end of the process. That left heaps of scanning (thanks, Franklin!) and painting and editing in TVPaint. Got the best of both analogue and digital worlds.
"Pinchpot" is a zippy 4 minutes and 21 seconds, with no dialogue and a wonderful jazz soundtrack composed by Dave McEvoy with sound design by the stellar BestFX. You can watch the trailer here, and hopefully see all of it at a film festival very soon.
